We spend so much money and time just to be physically healthy. We even go to the gym.

We set aside time each day or week to go for a run or bike ride.

But is this really all we need to be healthy?

Eating apples every day does not guarantee complete health.

We still need to have social and mental well-being as well for us to call ourselves healthy individuals.

However, unfortunately, we forget most of the time that being socially and mentally healthy is also important.

Especially mental health which is disregarded most of the time; therefore, early prevention and cure are unidentifiable.

We should understand that various social, psychological, and biological factors determine our mental health at any given time.

Poor mental health is linked to rapid social changes, stressful work environments, unhealthy lifestyles, past traumas, physical illnesses, and violations of human rights.

Certain psychological and personality factors can make people more likely to have mental disorders. Additionally, genetic factors can cause imbalances in brain chemicals, leading to mental disorders.

No matter how stressed or moody we are, here are simple ways to maintain a healthy mindset.

· Appreciate yourself. Be kind, respectful and avoid criticizing yourself.

Make time for your favorite hobby and try something new to broaden your horizons.

Take care of your body.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle: eat well, stay hydrated, exercise regularly, sleep enough, and quit smoking if possible. By doing this, you will improve your overall health and well-being.

Having a good circle of friends during Friday night is good but having stronger family connections and smaller but more genuine friendships are healthier.

Go out with your family and try doing new activities and have fun with them.

Prioritize your mental health.

Seek professional help if needed and don’t hesitate to reach out to a therapist or counselor for support.

Stress will always be a part of our lives, so we better have good coping skills. You might want to try walking, playing with your pet or writing your head off as your outlets of stress.

And don’t forget to wear that beautiful smile and believe that laughter is the best medicine.
